§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 66:1.2 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Trembling?  Topics:  2 at end.

Heaven is My Throne
Thus said the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that you build to me? and where is the place of my rest?
For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, said the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

Since we have considered two of the three aspects of a man that God regards, as mentioned here, let us look at the last:  This man “trembles at my word.”  We have already considered poorness (humility) and contriteness.  It may seem that these two facets of a man’s character are more easily understood than this third one.  What can it mean to tremble at God’s Word?  Are we to read our Bibles in fear and trepidation?

From one viewpoint, No.  From another, Yes.  God’s Word is filled with examples of His marvelous love, grace, mercy and more.  We are ourselves filled with thanksgiving for all of His graciousness toward us.  But there is another side in what we read in our Bibles:  His wrath toward ungodliness.  The minor prophet Nahum tells us in chapter 1, verse 2: “God is jealous, and the LORD revenges; the LORD revenges, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserves wrath for his enemies” (AKJV).  Yes, scriptures such as this can bring some trembling in our hearts.

But is there another type of trembling at God’s Word?  Yes, in many ways.  Even though we may not continually read of God’s wrath against those who oppose Him or ignore Him, have we not experienced reading a passage that relates to us in some way, and our hearts may have a feeling of a tremble because we are convicted about something in our lives?  Such trembling is given to us as a small judgment on our lives because God has some work to do in us.

But we do not go around trembling as a tree in the fall against a strong wind.  Christians are not to be known as “those folks who are always in trepidation over something.”  No, we are to live life based on God’s goodness, but not forgetting how much He desires our holiness.

In Pro-life work, we may often feel that we have seen God’s anger toward those who do not stand for created LIFE.  Some believe that He will honor no nation that, in its laws, ignores the created part of life as well as the Creator.  This is why we must pray so hard for nations to stand for LIFE as God brought it into the universe.

Lord, we do not want to live in fear every day and every moment because of the holy character You desire in us and our inability to always live in it.  We ask that You forgive us when we fail; but, Lord, help us to live in Your love as we serve others in LIFE crises.  They need to see the appeal of Your love in us.

Topics:  Pray for Christians worldwide to respect the judgement aspect of God’s character while living under His forgiveness and grace.  May we offer grace and mercy through Him to those struggling in LIFE areas of their lives.
