§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

James 1:6 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Waves Don’t Cause Their Own Storms.  Topics: 2 at end.

“. . . but let him ask in faith, nothing doubting. For he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed about; … (DARBY)  (Read this scripture and more at

When we consider the sea, we may think of idyllic waters, crystalline blue; or in contrast, we may think of a hurricane roiling the waves and causing havoc.  And when we consider the role of the sea in these mental scenes, we may be surprised to come to the conclusion that no matter how power-full a particular ocean may be at any given time, the waves do not decide their course of action.  An ocean cannot just decide to start rolling itself up and down until it causes swells big enough to turn into hurricane-force waves.  A gulf cannot just decide to sit calmly and do placid things on a whim.

We know that waves break continually on shores all over the globe, partially at least because when the ocean runs up onto land, the waves have to crash.  But, no, when it comes to storms, the powerful ocean has little power unless the wind or other natural forth gives it to the water.  An earthquake below can stir up waves; a tsunami gets started by activity somewhere in the ocean, perhaps a volcano or an earthquake; but the ocean itself does not set it in motion.

So it seems in life.  Stormy times for us may begin with some happening that adversely affects our composure.  Some “force,” be it human or otherwise, pushes on us, disrupting our thoughts and actions.  This can happen no matter what cause we stand for.  With any cause, there will be others pushing back on us, trying to get things to go another direction.

As Christians, we turn to God in prayer as part of dealing with our lives’ hurricanes and volcanoes, and this is the greatest step we can take.  So when we battle for the soul of created life in our nation, we must pray and ask God to help us deal with the storm.  He may not necessarily lessen the chaos swirling around us, but he will help us walk it through, or swim it through as we may see it.  If the opposition is dealing us a flood of resistance, we may need to just swim.

Lord, help us to turn to you when we feel overcome by the pressures of the storm.  You have allowed this storm to come; you know what is to be gained by all our stormy trials.  So we must pray.  Combined with reading your Word, this is the most power we can amass to tackle, step by step, our greatest life-hurricanes.

Topics:  Pray to remember to pray as we look into a storm headed our way.
