§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

James 1:8   Thought/Prayer:  Single-Minded Focus.  Topics:  2 at end.

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”  KJV http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

Did you ever see a person go this way and that way . . . ?  There is an old children’s song that talks of a lassie or a laddie going “this way and that.”  (Unknown author it seems).  Boys would salute, and girls would curtsey.  Once upon a time, boys and girls thought the song was a lot of fun.

Have you ever see a grown-up person go this way and that?  Not so much fun.  But we’ve all been this way.  Sometimes it’s just difficult to make up our minds about something, and we can become wishy-washy, one term for instability.  Even in reference to our faith, we can find ourselves being unstable (and each of us alone knows all the times we’ve been that way).

When considering pro-life activities, it’s easy to become unstable as described here.  We may vacillate back and forth as to the importance of standing for LIFE.  We may hem-haw when someone mentions the possibility of our participation in a pro-life prayer vigil or at a pregnancy crisis center.  We think we understand how we feel one day, and then the next day we question yesterday.

When we’re dealing with the “doubles” in our lives, we merely tread water.  We may keep our head up, but we’re still stuck in one spot.  And we are soon exhausted.

So it is with our considerations of honoring created life in our world.  We either become single-minded, or we tread water.  Prayer helps sort this out.  Bible texts help sort this out.  Listening to the advice of others helps.  We must pray, read, listen.  Some of us seem more stubborn toward considering God in our plans, or including LIFE in our plans, than others.  But we all need to be brought up short if we can’t make up our minds.  “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” leaves no doubt that God considers this in a negative light.

Lord, we pray today for ourselves and our resistance to You regarding LIFE issues.  We ask you to help us be single-minded for You and for LIFE.  Help us to focus.

Topics:  Pray for singleness of purpose and mind among pro-life workers and those considering participation in LIFE issues.
