Job 16:7 & 8, 16 &17   Thought/Prayer:

There Is No Violence in My Hands.  Topics:  2 at end.

Ever since yesterday when abortionist Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed, I have been downcast.  I grieve for Dr. Tiller’s family, especially his grandchildren, and for the cause of LIFE which now has another blight upon it through the actions of a hate-filled person.

Pro-lifers are being tagged as hate-mongers.  It seems that every person who ever stood up for the preborn is now being viewed as having cold-stone hearts packed tight with hate.

This is what God gave me this morning in my devotion from Job chapter 16.

Job is speaking:  vs. 7 and 8 - “Surely now God has worn me out; he has made desolate all my company.  And he has shriveled me up, which is a witness against me; and my leanness has risen up against me, it testifies to my face.” vs. 16 and 17- “My face is red with weeping, and on my eyelids is deep darkness; although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.”

When saddened, sometimes we feel small and dried up, shriveled.  No matter our look, our faces during sadness seem tight, leaner.  We may want to be left alone; we feel all worn out.

But through it all, I, with all of you other peaceful pray-ers for life, can find solace in this:  There is no violence in my hands; I hope my prayer seems pure to God.

Today and in days and weeks to come, ask God to help others from bringing even greater violence to the world toward the value of ALL life.  We need plowshares, not swords.

Topics:  Pray for Dr. George Tiller’s family, especially his grandchildren.
Pray for God to be allowed to be in control in the USA.
