§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

John 2:1-11   Thought/Prayer:  Celebrations.  Topics:  2 at end.

“The Wedding at Cana
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. and when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine. Jesus said to her, Woman, what have I to do with you? my hour is not yet come. His mother said to the servants, Whatever he said to you, do it. And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus said to them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he said to them, Draw out now, and bear to the governor of the feast. And they bore it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not from where it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And said to him, Every man at the beginning does set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”  (AKJV)

Jesus was invited to great social functions, such as weddings.  Surely He was one of the greatest guest-celebrators around!  We all celebrate milestones in life:  births; birthdays; wedding anniversaries.  Jesus even turned the water into wine at the wedding described here.  At his mother’s request!  She must have really trusted in Him to ask for His help when the wine ran out.  And, even though it was later in the celebration, the time at which the less-delicious wine was brought out, Jesus’ wine was just THE BEST.

It may make us happy to know that our Lord loved to celebrate with people’s joy.  But there are two areas in which our Lord loved to celebrate the most . . . or at least, we can consider it this way.  He loved life.  He loved to offer eternal life.

We know He loved little children because He went against his disciples’ over-protectiveness toward Him and welcomed the children to Himself, blessing them.  So we know He loved these children at birth, should He have been that close to their families.

But He also loves eternal LIFE . . . so much that He wants us to join Him to enjoy it, leading to His voluntary sacrifice of Himself on the cross in order that we may have this LIFE . . . everlasting!  How much we should celebrate this, just as Jesus Himself celebrated events on Earth.  When we are in LIFE eternal, there will be no end to rejoicing as we celebrate anniversary after anniversary after anniversary of our coming into that LIFE, through ages untold.

From the celebration of children, to weddings, anniversaries, birthdays . . . to the celebration in Heaven when one sinner repents (Luke 15:7) . . . let us rejoice, Lord!  Let us rejoice and help those with LIFE struggles to come to know You and rejoice always also.

Topics:  Rejoice! The Lord rejoices with us over LIFE:  Newborns/children and that LIFE eternal.
