John 6:35   Thought/Prayer:  The Bread of Life. Topics:  2 at end.

“’I am the bread of Life,’ replied Jesus; ‘he who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never, never thirst.’”  (WEY)  (Read this scripture and more at

Wheat weavings have many designs and meanings, varying by the weaver’s plans and considerations.  I am looking at a beautiful 9” wheat weaving fashioned into a cross with the beams of straight wheat stalks, and then embellished with a tightly woven garland of actual heads of the grain slanting down.  All embellishments center in the crossbeams, with a triangle on top.  The entire piece has the look of having been bow-wrapped.

Several thoughts come to mind as I appreciate this cross, gifted to me by a friend, years ago.  I don’t know if I have actually looked closely enough, until now.  I don’t know if I have had meaningful thoughts concerning this, until now.

One thought is that of the wheat itself.  Wheat has been around for thousands of years.  It is a staple grain in many cultures, providing much good nutrition, feeding uncountable peoples. When wheat is mentioned, we may picture bread – fragrant baked bread – hot from the oven – sliced thick – slathered with butter.  Anyone for homemade jam?

Bread, of course, is in the Bible.  There was a special holy bread in the tabernacle and later in the temple that was always present before God (Leviticus 24:5–7).

And even greater, Who was the Bread of Life?  The Lord Jesus Christ, as He Himself said in the scripture above.  When we come to Him and receive Him as our Savior and Lord, we have all of the nourishment we will ever need, for our souls, for our lives.  Praise to Him, our life’s Loaf.  The bread of Him is always before God, just as the loaves were in the tabernacle and the temple.  He feeds our souls continually of His beautiful Self.  There is no better bread.

Thank You, Lord, for the little woven cross on the wall.  Thank You for the thoughts coming to me concerning You as the Bread of LIfe.  Thank You so much for feeding all who come to You; and thank You that anyone may come to you and feed and never be hungry.  As we work and pray for created LIFE, may many hear of Your Bread and be filled to fullness and more in life on Earth.

Topics:  Praise God for giving us the Bread of Life, and may we pray that many of the strugglers over LIFE issues may find Him and be full in their souls.
