John 8:32 Thought/Prayer: Freedom In the Womb, From the Womb. Topics: 2 at end.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
When we think of the 4th of July, the day to celebrate independence from tyranny, thoughts of bar-b-cued burgers and dogs, sprays of light in the sky, and fun with friends probably enters the vision in our minds. Great fun, this celebration of freedom.
Freedom, in part, is a celebration of the non-restrictive, the non-binding, the total capacity to move and go and to live as we please. That’s so great for us already-born folks. Should it not be the same for those not yet exiting the womb?
Freedom in the womb means the freedom to, yes, move, and “go” (such as doing somersaults) or being totally upside down within our confines. That is, until some vile-intentioned, cold metal instrument restricts movement: terribly and completely.
Freedom from the womb means the freedom to move and go and live in the large, interesting, expansive world of people, trees, oxygen, food, and all else. Those of us reading this have experienced this. Obviously, no ill-intentioned anything got in there and stopped our somersaults: dead-cold.
The womb should be a place of total freedom for the developing baby. Certainly, the uterine walls limit movement, and performance in there (and as witnessed by adoring family members from the outside, via ultrasound) is confined to a tiny theatre. But still, baby inside there has true freedom. Is it not our task to ensure that this freedom extends totally to the outside world of the Earth? Are we not mandated to pray for total freedom for the unborn, inside and out?
Lord, help us to think of the unborn when our nation’s birthday party comes around each summer. Help us to envision not only hotdogs and popping splendor in the sky, but those who live in the womb; help us to pray that they will be granted total freedom from any tyranny, especially pre-birth.
Topics: Pray to remember the unborn on days of celebration of freedom.
