Lamentations 3:22-24 Thought/Prayer: Of the Lord’s Mercies. Topics: 2 at end.
“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, said my soul; therefore will I hope in him.” (AKJV) (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)
The mercies of the Lord. We should thank Him constantly for them. Without it, we would be destroyed because of our sinfulness. In Lamentations we are told that without them, we would be consumed. But, no. We are not. And why? Because of His mercies.
God could have made us to be perfect and without need of His mercy. But in His mighty plan for us, He did not. He chose to create us with a will, and He does great things through this will instilled into the human race because He uses it as a strength when we are in His holy will.
But we have to make the choice to use our wills for His good purposes. And often we don’t. Hence, we don’t deserve His mercy because He is holy. It’s obvious we are not.
When helping someone grappling with LIFE decisions, it may be God’s mercy that greatly needs to come through to them. In an illicit pregnancy, self-incriminating feelings may seem to blot out any entry of God’s mercy into a distressed heart. To help someone in this situation, of course there needs to be love. But also generous helpings of God’s mercy. He does forgive.
Perhaps we must help those in this struggle to know how great are God’s mercies. Perhaps this scripture could be of great encouragement. Lord, help us to know when to tell others of this great mercy of Yours.
Topics: Pray for the opportunity to let others know of God’s great mercy when they are struggling so greatly in their hearts and lives.
