§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Luke 1:36   Pregnant in Her Old Age

The Angel Gabriel speaking to Mary, Our Lord’s mother:
“What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she’s now in her sixth month.”

We attended a birthday party today for a man turning 60.  Although 60 isn’t all “that old,” I’m thinking tonight of aging and how it’s portrayed in the Bible.  We must revere and honor those advanced in years, especially those way beyond our friend’s age.  Mary’s cousin Elizabeth was surely a great tower of strength for the young, pregnant and probably-overwhelmed Mary.  What a way to honor those of age: that our Lord’s mother was nurtured by such a person.  God, our prayer is that our attitudes will always honor those older, and that our nation and the world will grow increasingly more reverent and supportive of the elderly, against all odds and attempts to strike them from the earth under the guise of compassion.  Amen.
