§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Luke 18:1-8 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Why Do Prayer Warriors Need Support?  Topics:  2 at end.

Parable of the Persistent Widow
He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, saying, ‘There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man. A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, “Defend me from my adversary!” He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, “Though I neither fear God, nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.” The Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unrighteous judge says. Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them? I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?’”  (WEB)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

What could there be about being a “prayer warrior” that would require the prayers of others?  We might think that prayer warriors are so well-seasoned in prayer that they sort of stand alone, on their own, far above the rest of us who are not so greatly called to prayer.  We may see these folks even as far above us or unapproachable or needing nothing because they are so good at what they do:  prayer.

Well, most persons given greatly to prayer would probably tell you that these ideas about them are far from the truth.  Those called with special ministries in prayer probably have struggles with their calling, just as those called especially to service,  teaching, or other ministries may have.  Whatever the God-given ministries we are in, there are the ways of human beings that are going to bring challenges.  We get tired.  We get discouraged.  We get overwhelmed.
Do you know someone who has the spiritual gift of leadership or encouragement (exhortation)?  Prayer itself is not included in the spiritual gifts in the New Testament.  Perhaps that is because all believers are to be engaged in prayer.  But it is certain that some people have a bent toward prayer that is greater than most of us.  They need prayer support just as much as someone with a gift of teaching or prophecy.

We may think that they never get discouraged when answers are not quickly forthcoming.  We may never know if there is discouragement because people of great prayer just keep on praying and believing, waiting for God’s answers.

The woman in this parable just keeps on keeping on.  And the judge eventually gives up and answered her requests.  God is the same.  He answers prayer requests.  And from this parable, we see that He honors perseverance.

So when we pray for pro-LIFE issues, we are to keep on keeping on.  God does hear; and He answers in His own good time.  Lord, help us to not know discouragement.  And even in the face of it, help us to keep on asking.  And thank You for the answers You will give us.

Topics:  Pray for stamina in prayer, and patience when waiting upon the Lord.
