§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Luke 18:1-8   Thought/Prayer:  Why Pray for Prayer Warriors?  Topics:  2 at end.

Parable of the Persistent Widow
He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, saying, ‘There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man. A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, “Defend me from my adversary!” He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, “Though I neither fear God, nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.” The Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unrighteous judge says. Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them? I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?’”  (WEB)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

This parable is about a prayer warrior.  No, this warrior is not clothed in the armor of a soldier.  And this warrior is not even a man, who, in the day of this parable, would be a more logical warrior on the battlefield.  No, this warrior is unlikely:  a widow who needs the help of a judge to deal with an adversary.  We don’t know what the adversary is doing to this lady.  But apparently his going against her went on and on because she came before the judge often.  Her coming was continual, according to verse 5.

The woman is determined to obtain the help of this judge.  And she eventually gets it.  Jesus doesn’t tell us if she is eloquent in her manner of speaking or has a certain personal appeal.  All we know is that she kept coming and kept coming until she wore down this unwilling judge until he agreed to help her.

This woman was doing battle.  She took her stance before the judge and never yielded it.  She was determined to win his favor.  Is this not what a soldier does in battle?  Take his stance and firmly settle in?  Arm himself and then use the tools of his trade?

Apparently her offensive armor was her words.  But her words were augmented by her determination.  This is what prayer warriors do.  They get the words going up to God.  And they do not give up.  We all should pray always; but prayer warriors perhaps have a special affinity for prayer, a gift from God.  The words to Him come, and they are wielded as though in battle.  So why should we pray for these praying people?

In pro-life work, the prayers must always be going to God.  And it would seem that we all should particularly support those whose greatest calling, perhaps, is prayer.  Those who go often and intensely before God’s throne need the prayers of the rest of us to bolster their efforts and give encouragement.  Lord, help us to think of these folks and their special work of prayer.  Help us to remember them in our own prayers.
