§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Luke 2:10 Thought/Prayer:  Joy, True Joy.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And the angel said to them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”  (AKJV)  (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

At Christmas time there is often an abundance of joyful feelings going around, with all of the get-togethers, office parties, caroling in neighborhoods, baking cookies while laughing a lot . . . . Just a lot of joy.

Just the carrying out of all the family traditions can solidify the joy of times past and can help guarantee that the traditions will be passed on into the future.  In fact, joy in the holiday season can be greatly present without celebrating the truly joyful present of the gift of God’s son to the world.  Yes, we know that folks can get really happily joyful at Christmas even though Christ is not the center of it all.

Of course, the true joy of Christmas is:  Christ.  Christ the Savior, whom - those of us who believe, know - is the center of Christmas.  His name is in the term, Christmas!  And, believers can enjoy all of the more secular aspects of the Christmas season along with everyone else.  Who doesn’t like singing about a winter wonderland or a reindeer with a very red nose put to good use?  Much beautiful music has been composed about the non-religious aspects of Christmas; stories have been written; plays presented; bells rung.

But to believers, the underlying theme of Christmas never is diluted by the joyful activities and traditions that surround Christmastime.  The deep theme of Christ is at the beginning of all types of joyful times.  If He hadn’t come, the song “White Christmas” would never have come into existence.  Those that rail against Christmas and its traditions would never surely not deny that without Christ, there would be no funny stories about Christmas mishaps or surprises.  No, we can’t really take Christ out of Christmas even if the secular aspect is revered more than the coming of Christ Himself.

Many families will be enduring great stresses at Christmas time, whether it be dealing with a handicapped family member or impending huge life changes such as divorce.  Hopefully there will be, in some way, those who truly celebrate Christ’s coming, to pray for and encourage those in dire straits.

Lord, lead us to persons who need us to tell them about You and the true meaning of Christmas, particularly those who struggle with grave decisions that are seemingly more complicated because they do not bring joy.  Lead us to those who need the true joy of Christmas as brought to them by those whom You send, those who believe.

Topics:  Pray for those who need special joy at Christmas time, that they will come to know Christ, the Joy of the ages, come to Earth.
