§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Mark 6:30, 31 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Sit By His Side.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And the apostles coming together unto Jesus, related to him all things that they had done and taught.  And he said to them: Come apart into a desert place, and rest a little. For there were many coming and going: and they had not so much as time to eat.”  Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA) (Read this scripture and more at

There are up to twelve men here, sharing their news of their days, explaining to their Master, Jesus, all of the ins and outs of certainly a multitude of situations and events, since there may be all twelve together there.  Their Master has noticed that they may be tired, with so many people desiring his attention and needing his listening ear or touch.  They haven’t even eaten – and Jesus notices this.  If we were one of these men with Jesus, would we not have felt so extra special when He says, “Follow me, over here, and get a little rest” and maybe a bite to eat.

It was special enough to just be included in Jesus’ band of men.  Out of all the people he knew of, these were the ones chosen to stay close by, to spend the most time with him, to get to soak up the greatest amount of His teaching, to witness the most events he would be creating as he went along.

And then, to just be allowed to come apart with him for special times – how wonderful it must have been.  On top of that, He wanted to know about their lives and the people and events in them.  Wouldn’t a person want this to just go on and on, this time of rest, relaxation and sharing!

Jesus wants to spend that type of time with us, also.  Our advantage is that we don’t have to be in the same desert or on the same field with Him.  Because He has been resurrected, we can talk with him and share our days any time!  We might, though, admit that we would really like to sit by his side, in person, each of us.  But since that is not possible at this time, we will greatly enjoy the times of fellowship with Him, through praise and prayer.  It’s a different arrangement, but we are still spending time and sharing our days with our Lord.

Lord, we thank you that You are completely available to us at all times, anywhere, in any situation.  Encourage us to take advantage of many times during our day, to seek you out and tell you our life’s stories.  We know you have Your full attention, just as the disciples did when they came together to Jesus.  Let us pray, Lord, for all of those with difficult decisions regarding LIFE issues, to know that they can sit by your side through prayer and speak with you just as we do.  Help them know that in You they will have a listening ear and a listening heart.

Topics:  Pray for those around us, particularly those with LIFE issues, to know that when Jesus is made Lord and Savior, they can draw near to Him and have access to his attention at all times, and He will always listen.
