§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Matthew 5:13 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Everything Seems Tasteless.  Topics:  2 at end.

“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.”  (WEB)  Read this scripture and more at

Sometimes everything just seems tasteless.  Normally this is not so, but sometimes we have bouts of “nothing sounds good.”  Someone may mention a favorite dish.  Well, doesn’t really sound good.

It may be that when food loses its appeal it is because we are distressed, down about life, lacking zest.  Maybe we’d like a little lemon zest!  Now that will perk up a taste bud.  Even those little lemon-shaped drops will give a taste-bed rush.

But so many seemingly never-ending trials of life can leave us lacking interest in tasting any food.  Often this comes from a depressed outlook on life.  There seems to be no answer for our situation, our problems.  Where is hope?  Seemingly gone away with our interest in tasting anything.

Clinical (major) depression is a very serious condition, diagnosed by specialists.  Most of us who feel “down” for awhile probably do not have this.  We may be sad over a great loss, or we could have a medical condition.

But for some, life’s overwhelming challenges may bring a depression that is long-lasting and life-altering.  Individuals in LIFE troubles may experience this.  A lingering beloved relative who wants to be done with life on Earth; a daughter or sister pregnant, unplanned; the struggles with living with a family member with developmental delays, mental retardation, or difficult syndromes.  All can present ongoing angst leading to clinical depression.  Any or all can be exhausting.

We may not personally know someone with debilitating depression.  But we can still pray for those who have it.  We can pray for someone to come to these folk with a little salt from God to bring added flavor to life.  No, just one person offering some of God’s love will probably not bring interest in life to someone who is majorly depressed.  But we might not be the only person; there may be others who are also praying and asking for insight to help this one who has become so low.

It is up to us.  We can be ready to offer the salt of God’s favor and eventually His plans for these hurting persons.  No, not all will be restored to an interest in life.  But if we can help just one, it would leave such a great taste of life in our mouths.

Lord, help us to know when to offer this salt to those who are hurting so.  Guide us as we come alongside to help and restore.

Topics:  Pray for insight to see . . . to recognize those God would have us come alongside, with our salt for life.
