§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Matthew 8:14-15   Thought/Prayer:  The Touch of His Hands.  Topics:  2 at end.

Jesus Heals at Peter’s House
And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered to them.” (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

The Touch of the Master’s Hand

Author: Myra Brooks Welch
Copyright: Public Domain.

It was battered and scarred,
And the auctioneer thought it
Hardly worth his while
To waste his time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.
“What am I offered, good people”, he cried,
“Who starts the bidding for me?”
“A dollar? only one? Who’ll make it two?”
“Two dollars, and who’ll make it three?”
“Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going, and gone, for three”,
But, No,
From the room far back a grey haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow,
Then wiping the dust from the old violin
And tightening the loosened strings,
He played a melody as pure and sweet,
As the carol as the angels sing.

And the music stopped, and the auctioneer
In a voice that was quiet and low,
Said “Now what am I bid for this old violin?”
As he held it up with a bow.
“A thousand dollars, and who’ll make it two?”
“Two thousand, and who’ll make it three?”
“Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
And going and gone”, said he.

The audience cheered,
But some of them cried,
“We just don’t understand.”
“What changed its’ worth?”
And quick came the reply.
“The Touch of the Masters Hand.”

And many a man with life out of tune,
And battered and scarred by sin,
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd
Much like that old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine,
A game and he travels on.
He is going once, he is going twice,
He is going and almost gone.
But the Master comes,
And the foolish crowd never can quite understand,
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the Touch of the Master’s Hand.

This beautiful poem has dear words for a follower of Jesus Christ.  The “master” in the poem is, indeed, no one but God.  Someone’s life may be battered and seemingly worthless to an outside view.  But just give that soul to God, and the touch of the Lord’s hand makes such a beautiful change that the person becomes beautiful, just like the beaten-up old violin in the poem.  His or her life begins to sing with melody, just as a priceless well-played violin responds to the bow upon it, wielded by an experienced violinist, . . . that being God, in this poem.

It was the touch of The Master’s hand that healed Peter’s mother-in-law.  She was healed by the Master of the universe, Jesus Christ.  How that touch must have felt to her!  Wouldn’t we all want to be healed by that touch of a hand, that of the Master?  There could be no more beautiful touch than His.

His hand is still healing today by touching those who need Him.  Whether the person believes or not; whether there is someone present who knows Jesus; whether His touch is through the answered prayer of someone who asked:  He is still healing today.

There are accounts of people knowing His touch through a feeling of electricity running through their bodies.  And, some report a feeling of warmth.  Perhaps this warmth was experienced by Peter’s wife’s mother.  We don’t know.  But how marvelous that would have been.

There are those who lay hands on those who are suffering from illness or injury.  It is natural to comfort someone who is ill by a touch of our hands.  Jesus touched many of those whom He healed.  It was a personal way of loving them to health.

Lord, there are many people with injury or illness today.  Help us to ask You for Your touch, for them.  For those who are locked into situations with seemingly no hope, situations of LIFE crises and others, we ask for Your touch.  And if they do now know You, Lord, we pray that through the love in Your touch, they will see You and know You.

Topics:  Pray for Jesus’ touch to heal and help many, however it occurs in their lives.  And praise Him for the results.
