§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Matthew 8:14   Thought/Prayer:  She Served ‘Em.  Topics:  2 at end.

“When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him.”  WEB (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

Upon being healed by Jesus, why do you think that Peter’s mother-in-law immediately got up from her sickbed and began to serve Jesus and the others in the house?  Wouldn’t we think that she might be just a bit tired and exhausted after being ill?  Don’t we human beings sometimes need some time of recuperation after an illness?  (And maybe we take advantage of that possibility to just lie around the house?!  Well, maybe.)

But not this lady.  She was cooled from her burning fever by the Lord Jesus; and she was ready to be up and about from that moment.  So what does this say about the healing that Jesus did?  Perhaps it is simple to say.  Consider:  Jesus had just healed a man who was blind and could barely speak.  He now could hear and speak.  People saw this.  “And they were astonished above measure, saying, He does all things well; he makes both the deaf to hear, and the speechless to speak.”  DBT

When Jesus did something, he did it well.  So apparently when the mother-in-law was healed, she immediately received back all her vim and vigor and set about to serve.  Yes, we can say that Jesus does do things well . . . even all things according to those who followed him and after seeing this healed man.  Praise God there is Someone in the universe who does ALL THINGS well.  Well, actually, to praise that Person, we are praising The Someone God.  One and the same.

Lord, help us to take note of Peter‘s wife’s mother and help us to be ready to serve at any time we are needed.  We may not have just been healed of a fever, but still, it behooves us to always be up and at the ready to serve others.  No, there is no place for just lying around the house just because we have been ill.  We are not healed by our Lord’s direct touch as in this scriptural incident; but He does heal, and then we must be back out there serving Him and others.  Help us to do this with those in LIFE crunches.

Topics:  Pray for the willingness to always be ready to serve others, even if we have been ill or had other situations that can make us tired.
