Micah 7:18,19 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  To the Depths.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Who is a God like to you, that pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retains not his anger for ever, because he delights in mercy.
He will turn again, he will have compassion on us; he will subdue our iniquities; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at

How comforting are the words at the end of this passage!  The prophet Micah tells us where our sin will end up when God pardons us when we confess and turn to Him.  Our sin goes “into the depths of the sea.”  In our world, that’s as deep and far away as it can get (short of drilling to the center of the Earth’s core).  And when we read these words, we are impressed that this is, indeed, very far away and deep.  We have no chance of getting it back once it is there.  Each sin confessed, out of God’s forgiveness, is gone, gone, gone.  Drowned forever.

The prophet creates a great mind image with this statement.  Far away and deep.  Never to be found.  How much success would you or I have in finding anything on the ocean floor?  Zero success.  We couldn’t even swim there;  the pressure is forbidding to the human frame.

Now, sin itself is forbidding.  When we live our lives without regard for God and His ways, there are blessings that, in effect, are forbidden to us.  When we are living with sin, peace and joy cannot come in; it’s like they’re locked out.  But with confession, our sin us thrown to the bottom, never to be seen again; and the blessings of God top us out with joy.

Let us thank God for the crisis-pregnancy centers that have as part of their protocol, the explanation of all of this to their clients.  These Christian groups lead many distraught men and women to the Lord; they may have never known of God’s forgiveness, and now they have opportunity to confess, receive it, and know that their hearts are cleansed.  Lord, only You know how many lives have been saved because of these decisions made for You, by these so loved by You.  We praise You.  And thank You for the way You deal with the sins of the world, and each of ours, as You are asked to forgive.

Topics:  Pray for crisis-pregnancy personnel, to be wise in their explaining about salvation and the cleansing of sin by the Lord Jesus.
Pray by specific state for all LIFE issues.
