Passage Mark 4:26-29   Growing Grain and Hearts for Thanksgiving

“Then Jesus said, ‘God’s kingdom is like seed thrown on a field by a man who then goes to bed and forgets about it. The seed sprouts and grows—he has no idea how it happens. The earth does it all without his help: first a green stem of grass, then a bud, then the ripened grain. When the grain is fully formed, he reaps—harvest time!’”

Our Thanksgiving celebration is a celebration of harvest.  As seen in this passage, God is the one who gives the growth to the grain.  In pro-life work, harvesters are busy planting the seeds of God’s goodness and love, and for many of these sincere ones, through their service, bringing those in crisis situations to the Lord is the first priority.  That is as good as it gets, regarding assistance to those in need.  Hallelujah for service-horizontal and service-vertical.

The seeds are scattered across many lands of many types, cities and nations.  God is busy bringing growth, even if humanly undetected.  In prayer, praise Him today for growing grain to eat and hearts for Him.
