§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Philippians 3:14 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Throwing Weight Around.  Topics:  2 at end.

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (WEB)  (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

Ever know someone who seems to always be “throwing their weight around”?  We might say that two football teams congregated at the goal line are into this big-time.  Or we might say they are trying to “throw” their weight against the opponents . . . but when in a tight compressed huddle of humanity at the scrimmage line with inches to gain (or repel) there isn’t much throwing of anything.  Pressing their weight around might be a better description.

In life, there may be people who seem to come up close and want to throw their weight against us. . . whether it be in some circumstance, or whether someone’s personality just manifests itself as a force with which to reckon.  (God made all personalities, and, yes, there are those we view as a “force.”)  It may be a family member, a friend, a work colleague; a boss; a neighbor.  But whoever it is, they seem to always be a force upon entering a room, or one’s life.

Sometimes people who have big (and often dramatic) personalities seem to always be pushing against us.  And if this is so, then it is up to us to go to God about our responses.  If someone such as this has influence regarding decisions about LIFE issues, then we
especially need to go to God for direction.  He did make all personalities, and He uses those with “big” ones to accomplish many of His plans.  But for most of us who are quieter, we may need some special insight on how to deal with someone whose weight seems to be thrown around against us.

But God can handle it.  He will help a person see the good to come out of someone’s attempts to solve other people’s problems unasked; He can work out personality differences toward a common solution.  But when being forced into an unwanted decision, and there seems to be no common ground, a person must stand up for the belief that LIFE is created and is from God, and LIFE must be honored.  This is where the caring and the prayers of others play a huge and weighty role in the life of another (or more than one “other” in the case of unplanned pregnancies).

Lord, help us to stand strong both in our lives of weighty decisions, and direct us how to help others who are going against others of great strength of personality.  Help us to help someone see that it may be out of love that such strong weight is applied to a situation; but that ultimately Your will for the life of the preborn must be sought.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom in dealing with those in LIFE’s struggles who are going against others of seemingly greater power in life; but not as powerful as You, Lord.
