§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Philippians 3:14 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  A Strategy:  Push.  Topics:  2 at end.

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (WEB)  (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

When the man-press is at the goal line in football, both teams against each other with as much force as individuals can put out (thus increasing the total force of pushing en masse to probably astronomical numbers . . . well, sort of), it may seem that nothing is happening or will happen, thus bringing the press to a whistle-blow by a referee.  It truly does seem like nothing has been accomplished because of the stand-off of pushing-against.  The entire body of men just seems to be “there” . . .  without visible progress for either the offense or defense.

Somewhere in there is the ball, held by someone for at least awhile.  And herein is a simple basic tenet of football: The man with the ball needs to get the ball over the line and into the end zone – all the while controlling the ball.  Hard to do with all the bodies pressing in.

But another basic tenet of football:  Do what you can to get the ball over the line.

One strategy for accomplishment of this is so basic it seems elementary.  Push the guy from behind.  Yes.  Simply . . . push him over.  Get some men behind and just push.

This often helps to get the ball into that end zone.  No matter how pushed-upon the ball carrier might feel, the end result is the end zone.  Just push.

In life, when we are at a standstill and not gaining ground, sometimes a good push by our buddies can help.  When we cannot propel ourselves over or dig our way under, we may notice someone else pushing from behind.  Great plan.

In LIFE we sometimes see the goal line – such as earning a college degree or passing a driver’s license test, but often don’t see the goal in such a marked way as the end-zone line.  Either way, someone behind us encouraging us may be seen as a lineman pushing the ball carrier forward.  The extra push adds power to the push already there and can mean the difference – success or failure - of going over the line.

God, we ask that we may serve You, at times, as persons at the line, with someone in front of us who is struggling to make it, to get ahead.  When we stand for LIFE in our world, we may do this for someone who does not even know it, or know who we are.  But when we stand firm and give a little shove in LIFE’s direction, we never know whom we my propel across the line between life and death.  To score a touchdown in this way can bring not only a win, but a saved life.

Topics:  Pray for the ability to give others the boost they need to save lives, whether it be a baby in the womb or grandpa whose family is considering euthanasia.
