§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Proverbs 11:2   Thought/Prayer:  If Pride Makes Inroads.  Topics:  2 at end.

“When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.”  (WEB)  Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

If pride makes inroads into our pro-life service in the Lord, or in any other service done in His name, we should hopefully be aware of it and get it squelched.  Probably everyone has unwanted prideful feelings about different work in life, suddenly realizing that it has made an inroad into out outlook; here in this scripture we have a warning about it.  It’s the pride vs. humility thing . . . And not the deal where we are so proud of being so humble!

No, as we let the Lord work through us in service to support the importance of honoring created life, let us strive to serve humbly as He directs us.  None of the human foibles that bring a proud heart are worth it.  Some of this gets started when we compare what we are doing, with others’ work.  We should always come out on the short end of the stick in this . . . otherwise we are living with prideful hearts.  Philippians 2:3 tells us, “ . . . doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; . . . (WEB).”  Well, to paraphrase, not location location, but I guess this has to do with attitude, attitude, attitude.

It would seem that our service will be less effective also, if we let foolish pride get in our way.  If we are proud we probably will be viewed as proud through our actions and attitudes.  If we want to make ourselves shine, then someone else has to seem somewhat scuffed up

No, we are to humbly serve without hope of recognition – not in vain glory as some translations put it in this text – or conceit.  Any earthly glory we try to bring to ourselves is vain.

Lord, help us to serve You humbly through Your direction in our lives.  Rid us of the human tendency to want recognition.  May we be so close to You, Lord, that we serve only You, and not our foolish pride.  Let us serve so humbly that those in life-choice struggles will see You and not our selves, silly with pride.

Topics:  Pray to be so close to the Lord that there is no room for our foolish pride to come between Him, us, and ministry.
