Proverbs 17:17 Thought/Prayer: An Honor in Poignancy. Topics: 2 at end.
“A friend loves at all times; . . . .” Scripture quotations are from the Holy Bible, English Standard Version, copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a division of Good News Publishers. Used by permission. All rights reserved.” (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)
I witnessed a poignant scene while driving in our town today. It was a group of apparently teen-aged young people, probably 5 or 6 of them, gathered around a tree at curbside, and they were laying flowers at the base of the tree. I witnessed this as I drove out, and then as I returned, there the flowers were; and from this perspective I saw a bead-draped photo of a young woman.
I do not know the meaning of this poignancy, whether this young woman had recently died, there or elsewhere, or whether this was an anniversary. But I do know that the young girl in the photo was being honored by friends or family. All the motorists or pedestrians who travel that street will see evidence that she was loved. The bouquets of bright flowers call attention to the trunk of that tree. I thought the flowers and the intent to remember were quite beautiful.
We can honor the preborn by putting an end to abortion. We can pray, share our thoughts with others, take action in hundreds of ways.
But what if we were to pick a rose or a lily or an orchid for each preborn done away with by legalized abortion? There would not be enough rooms to keep them.
Topics: Lord, we pray to remember those lost to abortion by praying for their families. For every child lost, picture a flower held in the hands of the mothers, no matter the reasons for the abortion, whether for convenience, or fear of the future, or from coercion. These families need our prayer, and picturing a flower may help us to focus on the precious lives lost, flowers cut off before the bloom. Lord, we ask you to help us.
Rejoice for every child born today, and give God our thanks.
