§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Ps. 77:  11-20.  Thought/Prayer:  No Footprints.

“I will call to mind the deeds of the LORD; yea, I will remember thy wonders of old.  I will meditate on all thy work, and muse on thy mighty deeds.  Thy way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? Thou art the God who workest wonders, who hast manifested thy might among the peoples. Thou didst with thy arm redeem thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. [Selah] When the waters saw thee, O God, when the waters saw thee, they were afraid, yea, the deep trembled. The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; thy arrows flashed on every side.  The crash of thy thunder was in the whirlwind; thy lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.  Thy way was through the sea, thy path through the great waters; yet thy footprints were unseen.  Thou didst lead thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.”  NIV Scripture quotations taken from THE HOLY BIBLE, NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION®, NIV®. It is sometimes good to remember how God has protected us and delivered us in past times.  This Psalm does this by reciting all of the ways that God worked wonders for the Israelites in their struggles.

There is one sentence that might be noticeable.  “Thy way was through the sea, thy path through the great waters; yet thy footprints were unseen.”  Yes, God was leading His people but with unseen footprints.  Through the great waters He led them.  He did this physically through the Red Sea and the Jordan River at different times—creating dry land by holding back the waters.

This Psalm puts a bit of a different spin on this thought.  We see that He led them “through the sea” . . . through the waters.  Perhaps we can imagine God leading His people (us included) through water itself without holding water back to separate.  So where would His footprints be?  In the water, it would figure.  Water leaves no foot prints.  Wet sand does, but not water itself.

As we face overwhelming floodwaters of situations and problems, let us picture God’s steps leading us.  It is, of course, easier to follow footprints, but God doesn’t need to leave footprints in order for us to follow.  In fact, with His being invisible to us, we are used to following Him without a visible pathway.  It’s just sort of nice to have it described as it is in this Psalm.

Lord, let us never forget that your unseen footprints are always just Your steps, even unseen.  And help us to let others know about the way in which You lead in order for us to follow.  Help us to tell others about this, especially those with LIFE problems and situations.  Let us share well the truth of Your pathways in order that they will want to follow also.

Topics:  Pray to follow God through damp sand with “footprints” or through floods with footsteps unseen.
