§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Psalm 102:18-22 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  Our Freedom.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Let this be recorded for a generation to come,
so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD:
that he looked down from his holy height;
from heaven the LORD looked at the earth,
to hear the groans of the prisoners,
to set free those who were doomed to die,
that they may declare in Zion the name of the LORD,
and in Jerusalem his praise,
when peoples gather together,
and kingdoms, to worship the LORD.”

A broader message may be seen in this scripture than meets the eye at first glance.  Here in the literal words, we see that God, from above, sees the earth, hears prisoners’ groans, sets them free in order that they may praise Him; praise Him on and on through future generations not even yet conceived, because they record His great works.  We can think of a dark dirty dungeon in the days of Christ and Paul and others imprisoned for their faith in their Lord.  Their groans must have been a fact of their lives.

Do not all human beings groan?  We walk around with the weight of our filthy dirty sin upon us.  And we groan.  We moan and wrestle with it and how to deal with it just as prisoners did in Christ’s day.  We must deal with it because it is as ever-present as the uncleanness of a dungeon: as a fact of our lives.  And we are on death row just as the prisoners described in this scripture:  doomed to die, to die a spiritual death unless rescued.

But, amazingly, God looks down on us . . . sees us and hears us . . . and he sends help:  The Lord Jesus Christ.  He is our freedom.  He is our door unlocking the prison of ourselves and our sin within these, our selves.  How grateful we are that God saw us and sent us a Savior.  Not only is he our doorway to freedom, he is a mystery that we can know, know of all God’s his wisdom and knowledge. . . Col. 2:2,3: “. . . that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, even Christ, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.”  AMS

Lord, we thank you for this freedom we know in Christ.  Thank you that you see us, hear us, understand our groanings, and send help.  Those whom we serve in LIFE work are often groaning.  Help us, through You, to understand them and to lift them up especially in prayer for your vision and mercy to cover them, to rescue them and their loved ones in LIFE crises.

Topics:  Pray for increased awareness of the treasure we have in Christ Jesus and to help others to see this also,  as we minister in His name.
