Psalm 103:1 (Pt. 2) Thought/Prayer: Two Blessings in One Afternoon. Topics: 2 at end
“Bless the Lord, O my Soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.” RSV (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)
Blessings come in all types and ages. That is to say, blessings come through persons of all types and ages. Today I experienced two types: One, a blessing in perseverance. Two, a blessing of age.
I took a friend to lunch because as a reward, an encouragement, for her obtaining and keeping a job. She has many personal problems that sometimes get in the way of steady employment. But, in recent years she has held jobs for as long as two years or so.
But she is a blessing. Through everything, she never questions the Lord. She still has love for friends and family, and she will accept help in a variety of forms.
My other blessing-person is 90. She is in a health-care center after living in assisted living for several years. She was a roommate of my husband’s mother. This gal is so sharp mentally. That in itself is a blessing at 90; so many at that age are slipping a little or a lot. But she knew almost all the details of what she told me and was seemingly accurate. She is a joy to be around because of all her interests in life and her interest in others.
My two blessings: First a champion of perseverance; then the champion of an ongoing good mind. Both blessings I will remember. Actually, both persons I will remember because of their abilities to champion life in their different approaches.
Lord, I thank you for the privilege of seeing these two people today, and I praise you for the blessings that they always are. You know each one of them intimately, Lord, and I pray your blessings upon them, that they might continue to bless others through the gifts you have given them in their own persons. Help us never to “write off” anyone because of their problems or their age.
Topics: Pray to grow more and more appreciative of others who are dealing with life’s challenges in so many ways.
