§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Busy-Ness and Thanksgiving           11-23-2016
Psalm 106:1 “Praise you the LORD. O give thanks to the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.”  (AKJV)  Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

As we plan for a feast on Thanksgiving Day each year, we may find ourselves wishing that we were not quite so busy with food and other preparations and could have more time to just be thankful.  No matter the lifestyle of any given family, there is just extra busy-ness at Thanksgiving time and the beginning of the unofficial “holiday season.”

Even in homes where “mom’s” main job is that of homemaker, there is extra to do, often complicated by the busy-ness of small children and the watch-care they need (Mom is always watching, always caring for).  When Mom is employed out of the home, there are probably many extra stops on the way home in addition to those of getting children from daycare or school and off to lessons and sports.

How do we find time for thankfulness?  Each person addresses this question individually.  But maybe for some, it is making a conscious effort to not over-plan; to plan a great Thanksgiving Day but without 10 salads when 2 will do.  Maybe for some it is limiting decorating, creating a beautiful Thanksgiving décor but not necessarily one that rivals the ambiance in those home-décor magazines.  Or maybe there are some items purchased and brought home for the dinner . . . or perhaps the entire dinner is from a service providing many meals, for smaller family gatherings.

And although it may seem just like an added “extra,” making a trip to an elderly friend with some treats or fruit may help focus the week a bit.  Elderly neighbors who may not have much family in town may enjoy left-overs!  They are thankful for them; and we are thankful to be able to provide them.

It is not easy to focus on thanks-giving for Thanksgiving.  But even if we are unable to, say, spend extra minutes with the Lord in the Bible or in prayer, if we are willing to make the day seem special with gratefulness, the Lord will honor that.  He lived on this Earth and knows the hectic life we sometimes live.  Our desire to think of Him, He will honor.

Lord, thank You for all the opportunities You give us for being thankful.  And thank You for the accounts we hear of those who have very little but are so thankful for what they do have.  We ask to be like them, to appreciate everything from Your hand, and to think of Your goodness especially on Thanksgiving Day.

Topics:  Praise God for His hand of goodness in our lives.  Pray for those in LIFE battles to be able to see Him.
