§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Psalm 107:1 - 9   Thought/Prayer:  Blessings to Count.  Topics:  2 at end.

“His Loving Kindness Endures Forever
O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
For he satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.”  (AKJV)  (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

When the set-aside season of Thanksgiving comes around each year, many people stop to praise the Lord and count their blessings . . . naming “them one by one” . . . as the old song by Johnson Oatman, Jr., says (1897).  In this Psalm we see that the blessings for God’s people followed periods of great trouble.  It is apparent here that there were enemies against them; but God redeemed them from those enemies.  He “bought them back” from those who had control over them.  He set them free from their distress.

All of this was centuries and centuries ago.  But it still applies today – this hand of God reaching down to offer His help when His people greatly need it.  And it applies to families going through the trials of LIFE issues . . . unplanned babies on the way; the aging declining in health; the handicapped needing much support and assistance.  Perhaps there is familial persecution when a newly pregnant single woman wants to give birth to her baby and bring it up on her own.  She may be shunned by both her family and the father’s family, if they actually know of this baby on the way.

When we attempt to come alongside these women or families to offer counsel about the protection of human LIFE, we may meet with great resistance from one source or another – perhaps the mother herself who is confused and anxious.  Or it may be from the baby’s father or from family members on either side.  This is a situation where no one, or very few, can see any blessings existing at all.

With our prayers, we can learn the best way to help.  One of the things is to assure the mother that although this is a terrible time of trial, God does bless.  And, one of the blessings to be counted in a few months, will be a new baby in the world.  But we must pray.

Topics:  Commit to be faithful in prayer, asking God to guide in intense situations where LIFE and death are at stake.
