God promotes the birth of children. Is this Psalm, children are a reward! In the account of Noah and the ark, after the waters have receded and Noah’s family is now back on solid ground, God says this in Genesis 9:1, “And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.†(AKJV) If ever there is a mandate to bring children in to the world, this could be it.
Medical circumstances sometimes prevent children from being born, and there is great grief, which speaks to the value of human life – and a loss of it before birth that occurs with no surgical intrusion. We don’t understand why this happens, and many support groups are formed to help mothers and dads to get through these extremely tough days and months. But as we have said, the grief from such happenings does speak to the worth of the preborn.
And is it not sometimes very reassuring, for those of us in pro-life work, to read scriptures such as this in order to reaffirm for ourselves that our work if valuable and important to God? To read that God knows babies as a reward in our lives? It’s beautiful. Those of us who are able to conceive and bear children are most blessed. We are rewarded!
Lord, thank You for placing in Your Word, Your regard for human life – and for letting us know what a rewarding blessing children are. Thank You for the encouragement that this is to those of us who stand for created LIFE in all forms.
