§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Psalm 29 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  Outstretched Arm and Voice.  Topics:  2 at end.

Ascribe Glory to the Lord
Give to the LORD, O you mighty, give to the LORD glory and strength.
Give to the LORD the glory due to his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
The voice of the LORD is on the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is on many waters.
The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; yes, the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire.
The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of the LORD makes the hinds to calve, and discovers the forests: and in his temple does every one speak of his glory.
The LORD sits on the flood; yes, the LORD sits King for ever.
The LORD will give strength to his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at

In considering God’s speaking the universe and all that there is, we might think of this scripture from the book of Jeremiah (and there are many others) (Ezekiel, Deuteronomy, Psalms, 2 Chronicles and more) that speaks of God’s creative ability being brought forth by his power and His “outstretched arm.”

In Jeremiah 32:17, in the middle of a long prayer of the prophet, are these words:  “ . . . Ah Lord Jehovah! behold, thou hast made the heavens and the earth by thy great power and by thine outstretched arm; there is nothing too hard for thee, . . . (ASV)”  Yes, God’s outstretched arm is sometimes a symbol of His power to create.  Perhaps we think of this type of creation as so big and ultra impressive, it seems waaaay out there beyond us.  (Well, it was and is waaaay out there . . . to the stretches of all we can imagine and then way farther than that.)

But then we are told in Genesis that He used His incomparable voice to create everything.  He spoke.  And perhaps in our limited human minds, this brings Him and His creation close to home.  We each have a voice.  God has a voice and used it to make us.  The power in the outstretched arm was, of course, the same power that spoke creation.  But to think of it coming through in his voice – pretty special.  It was in His breath.  It was that breath that breathed the breath of life into man (Genesis 2:7).

Lord, thank You for your outstretched arm and for your personal voice.  Please help us humankind to realize the extent of Your power and yet the familiarity of a voice and your breath in creating everything, and us.  Please let families expecting unexpected babies or struggling with ailing older folks to know that You are the Creator and that You love them with the love of Your Self – and Your voice.

Topics:  Praise God for His creation.  Help others to ponder this and to make that a basis for LIFE decisions that are hard.
