§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Psalm 61   Thought/Prayer:  Rock Talk.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Hear My Cry; Listen to My Prayer
Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry to you, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in your tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of your wings. Selah.
For you, O God, have heard my vows: you have given me the heritage of those that fear your name.
You will prolong the king’s life: and his years as many generations.
He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
So will I sing praise to your name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

Time spent in the Rocky Mountains:  Often it brings multiple comments such as “just look at all that rock”!  “More rock!  So much rock”!

Well, yes, that’s why these mountains are called Rockies.  They are huge edifices of rock!  We glory in their majesty . . . or in the majesty of other mountain ranges displaying much high-up rock, into the clouds.  Mount Everest is, of course, the peak stretching up into the sky at 29,029 feet above sea level – Over 5 ½ miles up!

In photos of the highest world peaks, we can see that at the great heights, all we view is:  rock!  Above the elevation of the alpine tree line (or timberline) is reached, there can be no more trees because of weather conditions.  Cold prevents growth, as well as too much snow during the year.  Brrr.  As this point of no-growth grows near, trees may just grow shorter; but they eventually stop because of the weather.

So we see rock and more rock on mountains tops.  This Psalm speaks to us about being overwhelmed and making for the “rock that is higher than I.”  Of course, this Rock is Jesus Christ, God (see I Corinthians 10:4; 2 Samuel 22:47; Psalm 71:3.)  So just think of the mountaintop rocks and God the Rock.

We can see the majestic stark grandeur of the tops of mountains . . . always from afar unless we brave the peaks as climbers.  But can we also think of God when considering the phenomena that are the mountains?  Think of it:  God has given us a reference point toward Himself.  We see rocky tops into the sky.

But God is higher than any of these.  Perhaps we can get just a glimpse of Him and His awesomeness when we oh and ah over mountain peaks.  He is higher than you, higher than I, and it can be poetically compared as higher than the mountains.

Lord, thank You for the heights of your mountains (yes, they are yours) and for the breathtaking image they can give us of You and beyond.  You are over them, beyond them; beyond us.  Help us to remember this power when we pray for LIFE issues and more, that You do reach the heights but are never confined to them.
