Psalm 75:1 Thought/Prayer: Frightened on A Holiday. Topics: 2 at end.
“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.†KJV http://www.bible.com (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)
This is a week to honor God by being thankful. Thanksgiving week is always viewed in this light, at least by those of us who love our Creator who planned such amazing wonders to be on our earth, as turkeys that gobble, and cranberries and pumpkins. Think of it. What would our world be like without yams, turkey dressing and whipped cream on pie? Less delicious, of course.
Are you thinking about what your neighbors and relatives will be doing on Thanksgiving Day, when they are not with you? A nephew may cook a turkey in hot oil. A sister-in-law may lay out a spread of Southern cookin’. The neighbor next door may invite you over for pie.
Among your friends and relatives, or nearby, there may be a newly frightened teenage girl who may be thinking of anything but food: she has just found out she is pregnant. Her appetite may vanish, no matter the feast before her. Perhaps the holidays ahead will be very, very distressing instead of joyous.
Again, to harp on a well-noted subject, Pray! Pray that God will make Himself especially known to frightened girls such as this. Pray that they will find support at home and in church and among friends. Pray that they will find Godly advice and loving persons to help, maybe in a center somewhere. Pray that a center will be open on Thanksgiving.
Lord, we lift up each and every young woman in such a bind as this. You know who each and every one of them is; you know them because you created them and their babies. You know the plans you have for mother and baby. These are totally Your plans. May they find You, make it through, and rejoice in new life and in their future. Thank you.
Topics: Pray for any young woman who has just known she is pregnant, especially on Thanksgiving Day.
