§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Psalm 84:3   Thought/Prayer:  Gander and His Goose.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Yes, the sparrow has found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.”  AKJV (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

A sign of spring:  Canadian geese seemingly everywhere:  And in pairs.  Yes, definitely spring.  Hardly is any solitary goose to be spotted as I drive along city streets.  O yes, there are a seeming multitude of these usually plump birds in every part of our city.  But only this year has it become really apparent to me that, at this spring season, these birds are almost universally seen in pairs. It seems that romance has taken flight, landing on our city’s geese in a big way.

Of course, it’s fairly easy to differentiate between male and female, with the female (the goose) being a bit smaller than the male (the gander). To see them standing together on a grassy corner, one thinks of his being her protector.  Do we see a bit of that in his presence near her side?  Every pair I pass has the gander right up close to his lady.  I suppose we could wax poetic about his gander guardianship.  I doubt it would impress him:  he’s focused on protecting the mother of his goslings until they are safely hatched.

Eventually the goslings will be trailing along behind Mom and Dad, and then they will take their individual flights, having been well-taught by very attentive parents.  After the empty nesting occurs, gander and goose will be free to mingle once again on ponds and on park grass and lawns, enjoying a gaggle of social life.  But the main point here is that geese mate for life and each pair produce their own version of offspring.

This is what human marriage is about, of course.  But sometimes things happen to lessen the commitment to this monogamous arrangement.  Wherein goose commitments for life time come naturally in nature, we humans were given our ability to think about this and choose, and sometimes and for reason upon reason, commitments lesson.  Divorce happens.

But, Lord, help us take a viewpoint from nature (Your natural world).  When we have opportunity, when others are needing advice about LIFE issues, such as marriage, help us to be able to represent marriage as strongly as we see mate match-ups in the natural world.  In Your Word You give us example after example of life, in parables.  Let us, as we view the commitments of nature, share with others the importance of them.  Help us pray for those who question their marriage commitments; and help them to stay married to provide a positive example for their offspring and especially if there are surprise babies.

Topics:  Pray for commitments in marriage to be taken very seriously and to prepare families for whatever crises come along, with a positive LIFE outlook.
