I Will Sing of His Love Forever
“I will sing of the loving kindness of Yahweh forever. With my mouth, I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. I indeed declare, ‘Love stands firm forever. You established the heavens. Your faithfulness is in them.’” (WEB) (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)
The psalmist declared, in the third sentence, “Love stands firm forever. . . “ And upon this statement are built many important aspects of life. It is elegantly said here; it is an elegant declaration, and true. Love in many aspects stands firm and forever.
The love of family. The love of country. The love of someone’s life. They can certainly stand firm. What indeed could come in and take away someone’s love for his or her homeland? What, in an enduring marriage, can take away the basic love between husband and wife? What can destroy a mother’s love for her child? Epic accounts have been told of parents sacrificing everything to save the lives of their children.
Even when a mother undergoes a non-life-threatening surgical abortion, the love for that never-known baby can endure for a mother’s lifetime. That enduring love may not be considered when the decision is made to take the life of a preborn baby. But that love may cause great anguish in the life of the mother, for years.
Workers in pro-LIFE areas can help such a mother with her grief over the loss of a preborn child, by choice. Counseling can help such a grieving woman understand that God forgives and that He still loves that child also. God’s love stands firm forever. He loves a mother in such grief.
Lord, thank You for statements such as this one in Psalm 89. To see it plainly stated that love stands firm forever seems to solidify this thought . . . this fact! Yes, it is a fact that love stands firm always. Help us to help grieving post-abortive mothers to understand this and to be able to get on with their lives.
