§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Psalm 92:12-15 (Pt. 2)

Thought/Prayer: An Elder, Flourishing.  Topics:  2 at end.

The psalmist says:
“But the godly will flourish like palm trees
and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house.
They flourish in the courts of our God.
  Even in old age they will still produce fruit;
they will remain vital and green.
They will declare, “The Lord is just!
    He is my rock!
There is no evil in him!”

Once again I must write about my “sing” with the elders in the senior center.  My special elder has loved Jesus for probably over 90 years.  She definitely flourished in life, being accomplished in her chosen trade and accomplishing non-stop in her service to others.

But does she flourish now?  Not in the same way as when she was “turning out the work as well as anyone,” by her own description, but in considering some of the Merriam-Webster definitions of “flourish,” she is: thriving, prospering, being in a state of production, reaching a height of influence – and even gesturing.

She thrives on patience, and we all reap rewards; she prospers in tolerance of her situation and doesn’t complain—a gain for others; she produces smiles when she teases a fellow elder or makes some dry comment on life or the situation at hand; and she attains influence by sometimes greatly philosophizing on life or people—she thinks often about how so many are fed and cared for where she lives, or that those who live to be close to 100 most often have to be taken care of by others.  I think she realizes this about herself in some small way, but she doesn’t rail against it.  She accepts.

Plus, she sometimes “flourishes” by brandishing some little hand-gestures, and although not bold, they still accent a remark or thought.

Please pray that people, and I include myself, can see the positive in elderly folks and appreciate what they have to offer.

Topics:  Pray that, as in other cultures, our culture might across the board honor age and the wisdom it brings, more greatly.

Pray that all the elderly will be able to live out their full God-ordained life, from conception to their God-planned exit from this world.
