Psalm 95:2   Thought/Prayer:  Thanksgiving Week, #2.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise to him with psalms.  (AKJV) (Read this scripture and more at

In our consideration of thanksgiving, for the week of Thanksgiving, let’s take a look at these words in Psalm 95.  Here we find a description.  It is a description of going before God . . . being in His presence. . . and not only being there, but being there with thanksgiving.  This is a very lovely depiction for us to consider, during a week where giving thanks is celebrated.

I think we might say that if we consider it at any length, we do come into God’s presence with thanksgiving.  We are just so thankful that He is there for us; and we’re thankful at the amazing fact that He wants fellowship with us and desires our praises. In speaking of praise, Psalm 149:3,4 says, “For the LORD takes pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation (AKJV).”  We cannot be thankful enough for this.

But then we also are supposed to “make a joyful noise” to Him, with psalms – sacred poetry or songs.  Sometimes the Bible calls this shouting!  (Many of us worship in congregations where “shouting” to God would be considered undignified or just “ too much” – But maybe some of us should reconsider!)  It’s Biblical!

Anyway, we can say sacred poems or sing sacred songs in our “joyful noise.”  (We can see right here that those folks who do not feel they can sing well, can join in the praise and worship with a joyful noise!)

So in a cultural season of thanks, come to God with our thanksgiving and offer up noise, joyfully, as we praise Him with sacred songs or poems.  Part of our thanks may be for those people who are living on Planet Earth, who might not have been, except for someone who stood for the rights of the unborn, was where he or she needed to be, to speak to a mother headed for an abortion, about God’s love for both her and her unborn child.  Now that is worth shouting about.

Topics:  Pray to worship God with thanksgiving, and thank Him for victories in the pro-life area that make the difference between life and death.
