§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Romans 15:1 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Inherent Worthiness.  Topics:  2 at end.

“As for us who are strong, our duty is to bear with the weaknesses of those who are not strong, and not seek our own pleasure.” WNT (Read these scriptures and more at

Think of those we know.  How many get up in the morning and are just happy to be alive, never minding how the day may go?  Often those with mental “deficiencies” are just this life-loving.  How many do we know who go to a job thought less-challenging but who love it?  There are workshops for those with Down Syndrome, for example, wherein a man or woman may need a specially designed jig in order to turn out the work.

Or how many are glad to be able to “get up and go” even though three times as much time has to be invested to ready to get up and go because of physical challenges requiring much intense, but slow, work.  What if it takes two hours to get out the door?  Or three?  Would those of us more able-bodied think we had wasted a whole lotta time every day just getting out into the day?  It could be seen this way.

Of course, in God’s view, such time getting up and around isn’t wasted at all!  He set no alarm clock for our morning routines when He formed us.  But why is this concept so difficult for some of us to grasp?  Why is it that we feel we haven’t done enough if we can’t accomplish “worlds” every day?  Why do we even feel guilty about how much time some routines take that could be spent more productively, in our view?

Well, it’s back to the inherent worth of the God-created individual, isn’t it?  He loves us no matter what we do – or don’t do.  But even more, He loves us for who we are, not what we do.  Oh, He encourages us to do, now doesn’t he?  He spurs us on to greater things, as we see in His Word, the Bible.  The Apostle Paul is a great example of someone who was continually active and “doing” for the Lord.  For one thing, we know that at one time He was a tentmaker.  He made tents in addition to his sharing of the Gospel, which he must have considered an employment of lesser meaning compared to His calling from God to go and do.

No, we are to be busy.  But still . . . and in a society that values accomplishment and busy-ness, this is difficult . . . we must recognize this inherent worthiness invested in us by God.  We are part of His plan of creation, being created ourselves but not by ourselves . . . This gives us worth should we never do one iota of worthiness through the things we do.

Lord, help us to see this in the persons we know who may seemingly manage life a great deal more ineffectively than most people; help us to see their worth and to encourage others to do the same.  Help families in LIFE crises with family members to be able to understand this.
