Titus 2:11-14 Thought/Prayer:  Why Pray for the President of the United States? Topics:  2 at end.

God’s Grace Brings Salvation  “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”  (AKJV)  Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

It may seem strange to couple this scripture with thoughts about praying for the President of the United States of America.  But is it to unusual?  Consider.

This scripture talks of God’s grace unto salvation for all men.  And all men, of course, includes the person at the top governing position in America – and in any other country, be it free or under a dictatorship.  Yes, God wants our highest world leaders to know Him and to govern under His banner.  And what does this scripture say about men and salvation?

It would seem that God includes some of the qualities that we would want in a head of state.  Deny ungodliness and worldly lusts.  Live soberly, righteously and godly.  And more.  Do we not want these characteristics for world leaders?  Yes.  Do we always get this?  No.  We do not.

But . . . for any world leader, man or woman, could not these qualities enter their personalities and characters at any time?  No, this isn’t meant to imply that just suddenly, such a person starts believing because it is expedient or in the best interests of their governing careers.

No, what we are considering here is the possibility that world leaders may indeed experience “the grace of God that brings salvation . . . “ within themselves.  It is, you know, possible.  Very possible.  And what may help to bring these changes about?  The prayers of the people.  2 Timothy 2:1,2 (ASV): “I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men; for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.”

Yes, we must pray for our President and for all world leaders.  Would we limit God’s Holy Spirit by considering that world leaders who do not live godly lives . . . and, indeed, know nothing of this life because they can’t or won’t believe . . . are beyond faith?  Never.  But do we really consider it?

When power at the top changes in a nation, there is no better time to pray for leaders at the top, and all others also.  It is as world leaders come to know Jesus Christ in faith that our world will change.  Can we who stand for created LIFE take up the standard of prayer and, through God’s answers, change the gist of everything?

Perhaps we must.  Lord, help us.

Topics:  Be sincerely prayerful for out nation’s leaders, and those of other nations.  With God, there is no impossibility.
