2 Cor. 2:14 (Pt. 2)  But to Be a Captive?

Thought/Prayer:  Topics:  2 at end.

“But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.”

No one wants to be a captive, right?  Captivity can mean total relinquishment of all rights and plans of action.  It can mean loneliness.

But wait!  Being Christ’s captives!  What about that?  Well, when we are His captive, we hopefully (although perhaps over a period of time) relinquish all our rights and give them to Him.  And then our plans should be as His plans direct us (as we seek His will).  And we’re never lonely with Christ always with us.  He never ever leaves us (Heb. 13:5).

When we stand up for babies, the elderly, the infirm, we play out our captivity to Christ through our acts of service.  We are his representative even though no longer our own persons, but His.  Pray that all pro-life Christians will seek a closeness with Christ that can only come through being His captive believers.

Topics:  Pray for Christ to take captive thousands and thousands of new believers who will serve him as he reveals his plans, possibly in the area of life-issues.

Pray for volunteers who work through national pro-life organizations, that they will know God’s perfect will for themselves and their work.
