2 Corinthians 5:17 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Around, Around We Go.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  KJV http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

If we go around in a revolving door for enough seconds, we end up right back where we started.  And even worse, if we go round and round some more, we wear a groove in the floor (at least figuratively speaking), and we’re still back where we started.

How easy this is to do!  Digging a rut is quite easy – and then we thwart ourselves when we attempt to stop and get out of it.  We just seem to want to keep going around, around, around. . . rotely walking on and on.  It’s so easy, and we don’t even have to think . . . just walk, walk, walk . . .

Christian service can become something like this.  Maybe we go forward and grow in the Lord for months or years.  And then suddenly we take stock a bit of our life, and we find we have been going in circles with no further growth.  For awhile we just revolve.

But our Lord is faithful, and He will keep speaking to our hearts to help us realize what we are doing and what we need to do to keep from continuing around and around and around.  Perhaps the “straight and narrow” path (Matthew 7:14) could apply here.  A straight path ends up taking us somewhere, not recursively back to where we started.

Of course, if we’re not going back over the ground where we’ve been before, we are plying new territory.  And in the scripture above, we learn that when we become Christians, all things become new.  We set out on a straight pathway, new in our Lord.  He is the newness we always need and actually want.  And when we find ourselves retracing ourselves, He speaks louder and louder and calls us back to His way.  Our prayer for any time of newness in our lives, whether it be a new year or a time of renewed insight and energy, we should be to be quick to hear His voice and to turn to his pathway, forward and onward.

Lord, help us to tune in to Your voice, especially when we find ourselves not moving forward in Your service.  We pray that you will speak loudly enough to gain our attention and that we will cease running that revolving door and will return to Your path.

Topics:  Pray for ourselves and other Christians to be fine-tuned to our Lord’s voice and also that we will all be willing to deny the ease of not having to think, as we run in circles, and to pay attention to our advancing Lord.
