2 Corinthians 5:17   Thought/Prayer:  New.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.”  HCSB   http://www.bible.com (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

Maybe every writer of things-devotional will use this scripture when a new year rolls around.  After all, the new year is a wonderful time to reconsider one’s self and one’s purposes and one’s potential accomplishments during the next 365 days (or 366 if a leap year is upon us).  But no matter the possibility of seeming like the previous or next writer here, it is an extremely useful scripture when considering things new.  So, where does someone like me go with it to tie it into LIFE thoughts?

It’s easy; there are a multitude of tacks one could take.  Babies are brand new.  Learning to take care of a newborn brings the practice of perhaps clumsy new skills, some never thought of before until babe is on the Earth.  Or because babies are brand new, they are quite interesting, as we find out each one’s special characteristics . . .  and, yes . . . their unique challenges such as not sleeping, being colicky, or fielding a voice like a screaming jet taking off.

But maybe the best thing in consideration of things-new is the opportunity to assess one’s position and opportunities in the pro-LIFE movement.  Mainly, where am I supposed to do more?  Where less?  We must rely on direction from God in this because of the myriad opportunities there are out there:  praying at clinics, organizing prayer efforts, giving monetarily and so many more.

The best approach may be simply to be open to leading and guidance, both from our Lord and from others and from situational needs.  We know we can’t all do it all!  We know no one can do it all.  God can help us found out our piece of the action, and it may change from New Year to New Year.

Lord, please help me sort out Your plans for my life in pro-LIFE.  Lord, help me to be willing to take the time to listen instead of just choosing some path I think is interesting or convenient.  Whenever things become new, as we do when we accept you as Savior and Lord, help us to know how to walk in Your newness.  Even after years of serving You, Lord, things are ever new in your plans for us and for LIFE.

Topics:  Pray for a willing heart to stop and listen and to ponder God’s plan for a new time of life.
