Deuteronomy 11:18-21   Thought/Prayer:  New Week Ahead.  Topics:  2 at end.

Remember God’s Words
Therefore shall you lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign on your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall teach them your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates: That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven on the earth.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at

A new week lies ahead.  Tomorrow is Monday and the first day of the work week for millions and millions of working folks.  And, even if “mom” or “dad” does not work out of the home, Monday still brings a sense of newness and perhaps challenge as we think of the days ahead.  Maybe a stay-at-home-mom has extra-special plans for the children in the days ahead.  Maybe a stay-at-home dad has the same idea:  Do something extra special with the kids.

Whether one goes on the road with a travelling job; checks in at an office in a skyscraper; calls order in a classroom of kindergarteners; or revs up the combine for Monday work on a farm:  Mondays just have a sort of a “beginnings” quality to them.

In this scripture, Moses is speaking to the Children of Israel after they had left captivity in Egypt.  He speaks of the days they have ahead and calls them to follow God wholeheartedly and with obedience.  He tells them that their days will be many . . . multiplied . . . and also the days of their children.

So as we get ready to step into a new week, we are probably not thinking, particularly, about living well in order to multiply our days.  However, we do need to live well before our Lord and do Him honor in our weeks’ work and activities.  And one of the ways in which we may honor Him is to support those who have ministry and activities in support of created LIFE.  Even if we are not on the front lines of pro-life work, we can always pray for those who are and offer what assistance we can them, especially through prayers.

When we pray, we are activating the greatest resource there ever has been, from time past and into eternity:  God.  It may behoove us to note in our minds that we may begin each week thinking of God in His creation of all life.  This, then, may help us to pray sincerely and more often for those who make it a great task of obedience to follow the Lord’s lead in preventing willful destruction of human life in the womb or at life’s end of long-lived folks.

Lord, we ask that You will help us to remember your concern over us, that we will honor You and keep to You in honor, as we live daily lives each week.  Perhaps help us to see Mondays, or the first day of any work week whether it be Monday or otherwise, as a start-up for prayers and concern for the LIFE that You create.

Topics:  Pray for awareness at the beginning of each week, to remember those who work so hard for the honor of created LIFE and of God.
