Deuteronomy 11:18-21 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Where and When?  Topics:  2 at end.

Remember God’s Words
Therefore shall you lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign on your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall teach them your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates: That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven on the earth.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

We see in this rather lengthy list of “Do where and when,” many directions as to our faithfulness in using and teaching God’s words.  My goodness!  So many ways and in so many places, and at so many times of day!  How can we ever hope to accomplish all of this in our mortal bodies that get tired and that are busy with many other pursuits?

We are to keep them in our hearts and souls.  We are to associate them with our hands and our minds.  Teach them to our children, in and out of our homes, when we walk, lie down and get up.  As for writing them on the door posts of our homes and on our gates . . . perhaps having scriptures in frames in our homes or tole painting them on walls might be similar?

Anyway, it seems a big order.  And a lot of these activities probably are already a part of our lives, directly or indirectly.  What Christian parent does not teach the children in and out of days?  What Christian parent does not speak of God, if not always directly his words, during days lived out with children?  Yes, many of us have these Word-of God happenings in a naturally occurring manner.

But if we would like to make more of a point of all of this, perhaps there are things we could do such as writing notes to ourselves to remember to think of scripture during the day.  But in essence, it may come down to letting God know we have a desire to incorporate His Word into our days in a more organized manner.  Then, if we are open to Him, we may just find more opportunities to think about verses as they come to mind.  We might just end up sharing some of them with friends or family.

Lord, help us to keep Your Word at the forefront of our thoughts as we walk through busy days.  Help us to claim any scriptures that come to mind associated with LIFE issues as we ask that You bless families in crisis with Your Word.

Topics:  Pray for willingness to let the Lord use scripture in our daily lives to encourage both ourselves and others’ lives.
