Deuteronomy 33:27a Thought/Prayer: Refuge and Arms. Topics: 2 @ end.

“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: . . . ” (AKJV)  Read this scripture and more at

A favorite scripture:  probably for many individuals.  It is short and to the point.  And in its few words, it says so much.

God is our refuge.  His huge arms hold us close.  Everlastingly!

Everlasting?  Lasts forever.

We are secure in His arms.
Yes, these arms under us.  But what about the refuge that is He?

A refuge is a place where we can get in and be surrounded with security.  We are protected from danger.  We are safe.  We might think of a refuge encircling us, over us and all around.  This is where we get the word refugee . . . the receiver of refuge in a secure place.

The mind-picture that this verse presents is perfect.  The tiniest newborn needs to be held underneath.  Parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles and friends are so very careful to provide strong arms underneath the new little body in the world.  Some of us even sit down the first time a new little boy or girl is held, just to make certain the underneath arm support is totally secure.

The family who has chosen life instead of willful death in the womb can so greatly and joyfully celebrate the protection and support of God.  Lord, help us to pray for those who are still in the process of choosing.  May they, in some way, without even knowing of these scriptural promises, recognize the refuge and support that You want to give them.  And choose LIFE and strong arms underneath, for their unborn children.

Topics:  Pray for those who are choosing between life and unnecessary death in the womb, that they may know of the great and secure refuge for them, Who is God.
