Eph. 4:11-15(Pt.2) Thought/Prayer: How:? Growing up in Christ.Topics:2@end.

“And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors,  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Until we all meet into the unity of faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ;  That henceforth we be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the wickedness of men, by cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive But doing the truth in charity, we may in all things grow up in him who is the head, even Christ:  . . . “  DRA (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

How do we grow up?  All of us do it.  We are born, we cry, we crawl, we toddle; we get longer stronger bones, we put on weight and get better muscles, our brains grow so we’re able to know more.  It’s the same, set process for all of us; predictable and certain to happen, barring genetic difficulties that preclude this happening.  And even then, many of these processes still come in order.

According to what has been listed here as physical growth we experience, it may seem fairly simple to apply this spiritually to grown in Christ.  Many correlations may be seen.  Our spiritual growth does not happen all at once.  It is a process such as we see in babies-to-children-to-teens-to adults.  All along the way of growing into Christ spiritually we are gaining aspects of ourselves; and much of it is in strength.

When we are a screaming newborn, we are unable to stand on our feet; we finally crawl after going through many gymnastics just to get our small body off of its stomach and hold up our trunk on hands and knees; and toddlers are known for sporadic jaunts of wide-legged staggerings around because legs are not strong enough for regulated maneuvering forward.  In all of this we are moving about, putting out effort.

So it is on our spiritual growing.  As newly born Christians, we go from limited understanding of scriptures to standing firm in our expanding beliefs.  Our difficulties over time strengthen our “bones” just as walking does.  The weight of our belief becomes greater and greater as we “bulk up” by increasingly “gaining” in understanding.  Perhaps as we wield the sword of the Spirit, we increase in Godly muscle to yield greater power.  Hopefully our mental understanding of God’s Word increases also, as we grow into Him; but we must move to read it.

Although we don’t realize our physical growth minute by minute, all of it and all of spiritual growth takes effort.  In fact, if we aren’t moving and growing, we are wasting away, as certain sign of listless effort.

Lord, help us to want to grow constantly in You.  Help us to desire to give the effort.  Help us to grow in some ways by the service into which you direct us, and today we ask for growth through pro-life ministry to the elderly, the disabled, the unborn and more.

Topics:  Pray for spiritual growth through a willingness to make the effort to move and grow in Him.
