Ephesians 5:8-10 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  Spiritually Upright.  Topics:  2 at end.

“There was a time when you were nothing but darkness. Now, as Christians, you are Light itself. Live and act as sons of Light—for the effect of the Light is seen in every kind of goodness, uprightness and truth—and learn in your own experiences what is fully pleasing to the Lord.”  (WEY)  (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

Let’s talk upright one more time.  If we do compare our physical bodies walking upright, what would the spiritual comparison include?  Do we compare ourselves to the ape that walks on all fours and then somehow walks upright as a human?  No.  We are created individually and uniquely as human beings, not a product of some chain through animals.  Nothing spiritual in having been once on all fours.

But there is certainly the spiritual in our creation because we are “fearfully and wonderfully made,”. . . Psalm 139:14, with these exact descriptors used in at least thirteen Bible translations.  We are to rule over the birds and fish, livestock, wild animals (Psalm 8) (Genesis 1:26).  All of the animal kingdom was created before mankind; and then we were created “special,” as the highest of the order of living, breathing things – just a little bit below the angels (Psalm 8).

So how is it that we walk upright spiritually, in our created selves?  Perhaps our feet and ankles represent walking the Good News all over the Earth (Psalm 52:7), the gospel of peace.  Our leg muscles are also work as we walk for Him.  Our spine is the major source of uprightness as we walk.  Perhaps it is the backbone we find from all the words in the Bible.

Our hands are always moving and working, in service to the Lord.  Psalm 90:1.
AKJV:  “And let the beauty of the LORD our God be on us: and establish you the work of our hands on us; yes, the work of our hands establish you it.”

When Paul was healing a crippled man, he . . . .
Acts 14:10.  AKJV: “Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on your feet. And he leaped and walked.”

We stand, spines as straight as possible, to withstand evil.
Ephesians 6:13.  AKJV: “Why take to you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Our neck muscles may keep us on the proper road of God through life.  We must turn neither to the right nor the left.
Proverbs 4:27.  AKJV: “Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove your foot from evil.”

Our lip muscles move with praise.
Malachi 2:6.  AKJV:  “The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.”

Our hearts center us in uprightness, and as we think, so we are.
Proverbs 23:7.  AKJV:  “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, said he to you; but his heart is not with you.”

Lord, may we give our physical bodies to you for Your spiritual aspects for them.  Help us to realize that we can walk uprightly in our LIFE endeavors, thus being able to assist more persons who are struggling:  Because in You we walk uprightly.

Topics:  Pray for the stamina to keep walking uprightly in the Lord, with all of our physical bodies—- and spiritual.
