I Chronicles 14:11 (Pt. 4)

Thought/Prayer:  A Big-G God.  Topics:  2 at end

Against the Philistines:  “And David said, ‘God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood..’ Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.  And they left their gods there, and David gave command, and they were burned.”

The word is “gods” with a small beginning letter, not capitalized.  So what good did these “gods” do?  Well, when defeated, the Philistines ran off from them. Of course, those gods helped the Philistines absolutely none in battle.  So it would be easy to walk away from these idol-gods ignore the flames of their burning behind us.
We serve a “capital-G” God.  He is the only God deserving of being set apart in this way.  And He cannot be “run away from,” no matter how hard we would try.  He is everywhere, so how can we escape Him?  We can’t.  And we are thankful that he is always our “Presence.”

He’s always the “Presence” of the holiness of created LIFE.  Be sure that He is with each of us, whatever our endeavors to promote Him and His love of life.

Our Lord, we thank you for your always-there Presence, and we ask that we draw upon this close-by and permeating strength continually, beyond wood and flame.  Help us please.
