I John 2:7,8 (Pt. 2) - Slices with theTwo-edged Sword

Thought/Prayer:  Topics:  2 at end.

“Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.”

Christ brought the true light into our world, piercing darkness.  His Word, the two-edged sword, slices ribbons of light back and forth through the thick dark, in which the world once lay.  The shredded darkness then has no focus to press down and blind.  It scatters.

At the beginning of a new year, perhaps we should claim the Word as being light in the night, as being our forward-looking beam illuminating our ways and footsteps.  John 1:4,5 says, “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (NLT)

As we contemplate LIFE in a new year, we must step out in the Light (Christ, as we are guided by his Spirit) and not look back at darker days.  We have nothing to do with darkness.  The babies who will be born because of our efforts will come into the light of day and not look back.  Lord, we pray that we can honestly and truly seek your Light moment by moment, and that you will bring the victory over the death of abortion.

Topics:  Pray for pro-lifers to rely more and more on Christ’s light and guidance.
Pray for more and more of the American public to understand LIFE and turn to it and support it.
