I Thessalonians 3:1,2 (Pt. 2)

  Thought/Prayer:  “Give me an L, an I, . . . “.  Topics:  2 at end.

“So when we couldn’t stand being separated from you any longer and could find no way to visit you ourselves, we stayed in Athens and sent Timothy to get you up and about, cheering you on so you wouldn’t be discouraged by these hard times. He’s a brother and companion in the faith, God’s man in spreading the Message, preaching Christ.”

“Give me an L!  Give me an I!  An F!  An E!”  Let’s yell each other on!

Interesting the way Paul mentions encouragement – as a cheer, a vocalization shouted loudly and intently.  Paul used sporting events as analogies in his letters, and cheer-leading is certainly part of the contests.

We’re in a contest for L-I-F-E, and hopefully I do not diminish our contest by bringing up cheering leaders, but those who lead the yells may have a big importance in the game being played, by rallying the fans to the cause.

We are to cheer each other on; Paul definitely says so.  As yell leaders in the battle, we can both pray and cheer.  It’s a Godly combination – and soon we will be asking for V-I-C-T - . . .  as we gain VICTORY.  Pray today for millions to become cheerleaders for Life – all around the globe.

Topics:  Pray for those who do not live near enough by an abortion clinic to do there and pray.  Pray that they will pray for those who can go.

Pray for those who are standing outside clinics with the words of life, that they may feel an unseen presence of all those who are cheering them on in prayer.  May they picture the cheerleaders lining the walkways into the clinics.
