Ephesians 4:11-15 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  In Christ, Our All-Things.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors,  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Until we all meet into the unity of faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ;  That henceforth we be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the wickedness of men, by cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive But doing the truth in charity, we may in all things grow up in him who is the head, even Christ:  . . . “  DRA (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

We know that we can grow up in Christ.  But this scripture says we can do that “in all things.”  Yes, we might say that this is a very inclusive statement.  “All things” must mean all things.  This could be very exciting.

The total scripture here has to do with gifts from God as to our types of service in the Lord; building up the body of ‘Christ, being united in our faith, maturing, and into Christ’s fullness in some way that God must indeed teach us.  It is about bring steadfast and steady.  It is about combating enemies of God.

Then, by being truthful yet kind in our actions, we have opportunity to grow, as is said, “in all things.”  Well, fellow believers, how can we even comprehend this?  All things:  It could be overwhelming.

Overwhelming.  Until . . . we look at the Person into Whom we can grow:  Jesus Christ the Lord of the Universe, He Who created the universe, including us, and yes, including all things.

Should I picture myself as becoming an evangelist, winning thousands to Christ?  Should I see myself as a wise person who serves in small villages in a jungle?  Or does this have to do with my attitudes and values, my spiritual gifts or my love for others?

Let’s assume that the all-things mentioned here has to do with spiritual development in our service and through our spiritual gifts.  Just considering these areas of growth is a really big order, a challenge to any of us.  God knows the “all things” that apply to me, that apply to you.  Whatever this terminology means to you, to me, to anyone, God is the One who determines how we will grow into our Lord.  I will never be an evangelist in a stadium.  But God has other things into which I will grow, grow into Him in the all-things chosen for me.  I can hardly wait to see what is next.

Lord, help us to be open to the all-things you have for each of us.  You know what they are.  You know how we will grow into You through them, in God-made ways.  Help us to grow into LIFE work’s things as we seek Your guidance in them.  Thank you for the promise in this scripture that we can do just that.

Topics:  Pray for God to clearly show the ways I which we are to grow up in Christ in each of our lives’ all-things.
