Luke 1:39-45   Thought/Prayer:  He Leaps.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah, and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She called out with a loud voice, and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy! Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!”  WEB (Read these scriptures and more at

In this account from the Bible, we see that Mary’s cousin, Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, experiences something very revealing when Mary comes to visit after learning of her pregnancy with Jesus.  When Mary comes and greets Elizabeth, John leaps in Elizabeth’s womb in recognition.  Surely this is one of the most revealing scriptures about the humanity within the preborn.  John is called a baby; and he demonstrates the human ability to jump – however tight his “womb-ed” quarters!  No, not jumping:  leaping!

Mary is newly pregnant; Elizabeth is six months along with her own miracle baby of another type . . . John, conceived in Elizabeth’s old age, the fruit of a heretofore barren womb.

We should be thanking our Lord God for placing this occurrence in our Bibles since it is such great proof of living human beings in mothers’ wombs.  Lord, we thank you for this account.  It lends so much credence to the pro-created-live stance we take in standing against abortion.  Thank You, Lord, for the proof here that babies in wombs are vital and active, not just pieces of tissue until they day they are born.

Topics:  Praise God for John the Baptist and this piece of his story in Luke.  Let us praise God for all of the pre-born things babies can do and for their great worth in the eyes of God.
